Blythe Barracudas Swimming Club was formed in 2005 and was the first in the borough of Solihull for many years to be granted affiliation to the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) and join the ranks of some 1600 affiliated clubs across the country. The club has over a hundred members and is proud of the friendly welcoming atmosphere it successfully promotes.

We started taking part in low level local competition in 2006 and joined the Nuneaton Junior League in 2008. During our first season competing at league level we were successful in reaching the finals of Division Three which were held at Wolverhampton in September 2008. This was a major achievement for the club and we were justifiably proud of our swimmers.

The Club’s coach – international swimmer Mark Sheldrick – took the club one step forward when we made the final for a second time in 2010, and this time we finished in a promotion spot, taking us into Division Two competition for 2011 season. The club also started competing in the Mercian League to provide a fuller programme of competition for the teenage and senior swimmers.

In 2011 Blythe started competing in Coventry and District events and retained its place in Division two of the Diddy League.
