Blythe Barracudas were well represented at the recent Coventry and District Secondary Galas Open Meet held over 2 days at Nuneaton Pingles Leisure Centre.
37 swimmers took part and bagged 32 medals; awarded to the top six in each age category.
The boys were on fine form and were rewarded with 19 medals. It was victory for Jack Wilson in the boys 13 years 50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke. Amile Zormati pulled off silver in the 15/over100m freestyle and 50m backstroke along with Tom McNutt in the 14 years 50m and 100m backstroke races. Bronze medals went to Matthew Pagan in the 13 years 100m breaststroke and 50m freestyle and to Duncan McNutt in the 15/over 100m backstroke. Amile Zormati also attained a 4th place medal in the 15/over 50m freestyle and 5th place medals went to Matthew Pagan in the 13 years 100m freestyle, Tom McNutt in the 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle. 6th place was achieved by Ben Austin in 15/over 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly, Tom Sutton in the 100m breaststroke, Tom McNutt in the 50m fly and Duncan McNutt in the 50m backstroke and 200m backstroke.
The girls also swam well with bronze medals for Ella Reel in the girls 12 years 50m freestyle, Mia Molloy in the 100m breaststroke and 50m breaststroke and Scarlett Flynn in the 100m freestyle. 4th place medals went to Mia Porter in the girls 9 years 50m butterfly, Freya Lindsay in the 10 years 50m backstroke and Scarlett Flynn in the 11 years 100m breaststroke. It was 5th place for Laurie Bennett in the 14 years 100m butterfly and 6th place achievements went to Beth Gowing in the 11 years 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly along with Freya Lindsay in the 10 years 50m butterfly and Erin Molloy in the 10 years 100m individual medley.
